Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska Kearney golf team has a 13-stroke lead after two rounds of Central Regional Preview at Meadowlark Hills G.C.
The three-day, 54-hole event gives 20 teams, plus a Loper "B" squad, a chance to look at the course (par 71; 5,908 yards) that will host NCAA Central Regionals in May.
UNK fired a 286 in round one and turned a 292 today (578 overall) to be well ahead of MIAA rivals Washburn, Central Oklahoma and Rogers State. After the field averaged 77.3 in round one, windier conditions saw the score move up to 79.2.
Individually, Kansas seniors Claire Berquist (69-71) and Liz Lyons (70-70) are tied for the lead with a 2-under 140. Berquist managed three birdies on the front nine this morning with Lyons recording six straight pars. Arkansas Tech's Jaylee Castro (68-73) is a shot back.
