Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska Kearney women's golf team shot a 36-hole total of 601 to win the annual Nebraska Intercollegiate Tuesday in Cairo.
The 10-team field played the par-72 Centura Hills G.C. (5,885 yards). The men's field consisted of eight teams and teed off a bit further back (6,828 yards).
UNK had rounds of 308 and 293 to get past Wayne State (608). Doane (644) and Concordia (677) were well behind in third and fourth place, respectively, with Doane (595) leading the men's race. The 601 is the ninth lowest in school history, with the 293 tying for the program's 10th-best round.
Minnesota junior Calie Dockter was the medalist thanks to a 1-over 145 (74-71). Wayne State's Erica Lee was four strokes back, with Kansas seniors Claire Berquist (75-75) and Liz Lyons (76-74) each shooting a 6-over 150 to tie for third. Finally for the Lopers, Swedish sophomore Pella Broms tied for eighth (158; 85-73), and Mexican freshman Paulina Flores finished 19th (168; 83-85).
