LINCOLN — Fueled by the excitement of new coach Deion Sanders, Colorado football already sold out of season ticket allotment back in April.Â
On Wednesday, the public — that is, Nebraska fans - got a chance to buy single-game tickets for the Sept. 9 Huskers-Buffaloes battle at Folsom Field.Â
Seats still remained on Wednesday afternoon. The cheapest ones — on CU's website or resale sites like StubHub — were $400 each. And there weren't many of those. A good view between the 20s would cost at least $460 per seat, plus fees that push the cost near $1000 for a pair. That's a couple grand for four.Â

That's more expensive than the Chiefs' NFL season opener against the Lions. It's 22 times more expensive than four tickets to Nebraska's home opener against Northern Illinois. And it's just a hair below what it'd currently cost to get a seat at this year's Michigan-Ohio State game.Â
Because of the season ticket sellout — and Folsom Field's 50,183-seat capacity — CU's single-game tickets are pricey across the board. The arrival of Coach "Prime" has led to a surge of excitement and interest in the program. Nebraska fans' desire to get into Folsom Field creates demand, too. NU fans took up almost one whole side of the stadium in 2019, when CU rallied for an overtime win.Â
Huge interest, huge cost. According to Business Insider, the average mortgage payment in Nebraska is $1,491. It'll take that — and then some — to get four tickets to NU-CU in 2023. That's before hotels, meals and miles in the car. Pricey deal for a seat at Prime's home debut.Â
