Pleasanton vs. Archbishop Bergan girls state basketball

The Pleasanton girls basketball team lifts their Class D1 girls state basketball championship trophy after defeating Archbishop Bergan 47-38 to win their first ever girls state basketball tournament. Combined with their third-place finish in volleyball, the Bulldogs finished third in the Omaha World-Herald's all-sports competition.

Pleasanton’s tied for first place in the Omaha World-Herald’s Class D girls all-sports competition, and the Bulldogs finished third in the combined boys and girls standings.

The girls won the Class D basketball championship and finished third at the state volleyball tournament to tie Humphrey St. Francis with 36 points.

St. Francis, which defeated Pleasanton in the state championship football game, won the combined championship with 74 points. The Flyers also were in the state finals in three other sports.

Falls City Sacred Heart was second with 64 points, followed by Pleasanton with 50 points.

Pleasanton’s boys also reached the state basketball tournament .

Pleasanton’s girls never had been in the top three in All-Sports scoring, but went undefeated in D-1 volleyball and finished third in the D-1 volleyball ratings to tie St. Francis with 36 points.
