"I am receiving encouragement urging me to consider" a bid to succeed Gov. Pete Ricketts, Fischer said in a telephone interview, but "I'm in no hurry" to reach a decision.
"This amendment protects the integrity of our nation's highest court and ensures that it remains an independent branch of government," Fischer wrote.

Fischer's bipartisan AIR Act proposal was included in the COVID-19 relief package approved by Congress on Monday.
The Nebraska Republican announced the good news via Twitter on Sunday and offered prayers for President Donald Trump, first lady Melania Trump and everyone else affected by the virus.
"Voting on President Trump's nominee is what the people who elected him in 2016, along with an enhanced Senate majority in both 2016 and 2018, expect us to do," the Republican senator said.
