KEARNEY — Merle L. Wuehler, 87, of Kearney died Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at his home.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Kearney with the Rev. James DeLoach officiating. Burial will follow at Kearney Cemetery, with military honors by Kearney Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 759 and American Legion Post 52.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral Home.
He was born Sept. 4, 1932, at Amherst to Louis and Annetta Wuehler.
He attended parochial school north of Amherst and Amherst High School. He was in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1954.
In August 1958, he married Evelyn Hibberd at Zion Lutheran Church. To this union was born their daughter, Karla Kay.
Merle farmed in the Amherst and Riverdale community until he retired in 1997. He then was employed by Pioneer Seeds for 17 years, where he enjoyed meeting many of his clients.
He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. He was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn of Kearney; daughter, Karla and her husband Daniel Trampe of Reno, Nevada; granddaughters, Janelle Kurland and her daughter Avery of Reno, Nevada, and Jill Smith and her husband Travis and their daughter Sidney of Dayton, Nevada; and numerous other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Virgil; and niece, Peggy Wuehler.
