KEARNEY — Three out of four Kearneyites allegedly involved in a June in-home robbery in south Kearney have been convicted.
Cesar Fuentes, 25, pleaded no contest in Buffalo County District Court to robbery, attempted first-degree false imprisonment and attempted use of a deadly weapon, all felonies, for breaking into Jason Singleterry’s home in the 1300 block of Avenue G early on June 1. Singleterry, who was sleeping on his couch at the time, was severely injured and several pieces of electronics and jewelry were taken.
Singleterry suffered a fractured shoulder blade, fractured jaw and a fractured sinus cavity.
Odin Myers, 33, pleaded guilty to the robbery and first-degree false imprisonment, both felonies, in the incident.
Tiffany Sandin, 21, pleaded no contest to felony aiding and abetting Fuentes and Myers in the robbery and to attempted third-degree assault of Singleterry, a misdemeanor.
They will be sentenced in January.
A fourth suspect, Shakira Davis, 33, is scheduled to appear in court later this month. She faces charges of felony robbery of Singleterry’s home, felony burglary of Singleterry’s home and felony theft at a home in the 1700 block of East 34th Street.
Judge John Icenogle ordered Fuentes, Myers and Sandin to have presentence investigations, including substance abuse evaluations, to be conducted by the state probation department. Those findings will be sent to Icenogle to use at sentencing.
All four are being held at the Buffalo County Detention Center on numerous bonds.
Fuentes, Myers and Sandin also were convicted in several other cases:
- Fuentes pleaded guilty to a burglary in the 1700 block of East 34th Street and no contest to burglarizing a garage in the 400 block of West 25th Street and taking $200 from Quality Inn at 121 Third Ave. In exchange for his pleas, eight other charges of burglary, theft or trespassing were dismissed. The Buffalo County Attorney’s Office also agreed not to ask Fuentes to testify in any cases involving Sandin.
- Myers pleaded guilty to burglarizing a home in the 1700 block of West 34th Street, a felony, and misdemeanor trespassing at a home in the 400 block of West 25th Street. In exchange for his pleas, another felony burglary charge was dismissed.
- Sandin pleaded no contest to aiding and abetting Fuentes and Myers in the burglary in the 1700 block of East 34th Street, no contest to trespassing at a home in the 400 block of West 25th Street, and misdemeanor theft of $200 or less from Quality Inn. In exchange for her pleas, a felony burglary and misdemeanor theft charge was dismissed.
