SCEDD nets towns $1.93 for every $1 in dues, leader tells Phelps board

HOLDREGE — Funding awarded to communities in the nine-county South Central Economic Development District now totals more than $645,000, Executive Director Sharon Hueftle said.

Since its inception, SCEDD has secured $1.93 for each $1 in dues.

The district has a neighborhood stabilization grant of $312,000 pending.

Hueftle has a staff of three people who work under her direction from office space provided without cost in Holdrege City Hall.

She reported to the Phelps County Board of Supervisors Tuesday.

“We’re good stewards of the money we receive,” she said. “These grants are out there.”

Hueftle said business, communities and tourism are the district’s focus, and it has provided significant help in housing studies.

District personnel conduct individual and group meetings that include financial analysis and management consultation.

Welcome to the discussion.
