KEARNEY — A January sentencing date has been set for a Kearney man found guilty of sexually assaulting two young girls.
Kenneth “KC” Fleming, 25, will be sentenced by Judge John Icenogle at 10 a.m. Jan. 8 in Buffalo County District Court.
On Nov. 5, a jury of eight men and four women found Fleming guilty of two counts of first-degree sexual assault on a child. Fleming is being held at the Buffalo County Detention Center on a $350,000 bond.
During his 4½-day trial, both of Fleming’s victims described in detail the abuse by Fleming they endured between June 2008 and November 2008. The abuse happened at two of Fleming’s former homes.
From the beginning of the allegations, during his testimony and after the verdict, Fleming maintained his innocence.
He faces a minimum of 15 years in prison to life on each count.
The state probation department is conducting a presentence investigation, including a sex-offender evaluation, on Fleming as ordered by Icenogle. Those findings will then be sent back to Icenogle, who will use them to determine an appropriate sentence.
