KEARNEY — Maintaining safety during busy times such as Thanksgiving and Christmas will be part of a fire prevention program presented from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Nebraska Firefighters Museum & Education Center.
The museum and education center are at 2434 E. First St. in southeast Kearney near the Great Platte River Road Archway.
“MISSION: Safe Kitchens” will include interactive activity stations to learn how to keep kitchens safe from fire hazards. The lessons on fire prevention and safety are for adults and children.
Members of the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department will conduct sessions every half hour in their smoke trailer, which is designed to imitate the layout of a home and a simulated fire. Kearney volunteer firefighters will give instructions on the correct use of fire extinguishers.
