“The World Theatre conjures up many feelings of nostalgia for me. I  grew up in Kearney and the World Theatre was the venue for a myriad of  milestones in my life.

“First movie matinee adventure — 1961, cartoons while sitting in the balcony with girlfriends. First date with my first love — 1966 “Dr. Zhivago”; nervous, but didn’t have to think of something interesting to say during the movie. First date with my now husband, Greg — 1967 “Hawaii”; still nervous, but what a beautiful, memorable movie. Many dates with same husband — 1982 to 2008.

“The movies and memories are too numerous to mention. Why wouldn’t I want to save the World?”
