KEARNEY — A reported armed robbery near Miller in September is considered an inactive case.

Buffalo County Sheriff Neil Miller said no new information or leads have developed in the case since it was reported in the early morning of Sept. 18. No similar offenses have been reported in the area, and Miller to believes it’s an isolated incident.

That morning, a 42-year-old Alabama man reported he had been robbed just north of Highways 40 and 183 Miller. The man claimed about $1,700 in $100 and $50 bills had been taken.

The man had stopped his semitrailer truck carrying carnival ride equipment just north of the intersection to check his taillights.

The driver said a man driving a blue Ford pickup stopped next to him on the highway, and the men had a brief conversation.

The pickup driver pointed a handgun at the semi driver and demanded cash, the semi driver told police, and he gave the man the cash. The pickup driver headed east on Highway 40, according to the semi driver.

Although he had a cell phone, the semi driver, who was traveling alone from Montana to Arkansas, didn’t report the incident until he arrived at Bosselman’s Fuel Stop near Interstate 80 at Elm Creek.

Police have a vague description of a white adult male of average height and weight.
